Thank you for Trying LOCKER Plus v2.00 for DOS & WINDOWS. Please
notify us if you encounter any problems with LOCKER.
You are allowed to use this DEMO of LOCKER for 30 days. After 30 days
you should either purchase LOCKER or STOP USING the DEMO.
You are allowed to give/distribute this demo to anyone ONLY IF it
is given with this documentation and is FREE.
We are interested in what you think about LOCKER -
what additional feature you would like to see, what you don't like about it,
and what you do like about it. Depending on what feedback I

Current versions of LOCKER available
Locker v2.00 Meters both DOS & WINDOWS programs, has a windows based
LOCKCON, can meter office suites, and has the ability to support add
on modules for metering NT and OS/2 programs

& notification, ability to set a waiting timeout from unlimited to
none, an user audit trail with date-time stamp / program name / # of
concurrent users at that time, improved reporting and more

LanSync v1.00 Software Distribution
LanSync allows you to make a distribution image of a program either by
manual specification (of the files and changes needed) or via automatic
determination. It can update the clients autoexec.bat, config.sys,
Windows INI, Window Registration Database, Program Manager Groups, and copy
files and directories to the client pc. Distribution is via an executable
which can be email to all users that require the Distribution.
LanMenu v1.00 Windows Menuing System
Creates a floating window bar which contains up to 10 tab groups. Each
group can contain upto 10 icons which when pushed start up the corresponding
program, pif file, etc.
Users only see the groups and the programs they are entitled to.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 What is LOCKER
LOCKER is a program which meters software on a network. It controls the number of users that may run a DOS or WINDOWS executable (*.COM & *.EXE
LOCKER is run from a console from which you can:
Add metering to a program,
Change the metering limit on a program,
Remove the metering from a program,
Be notified of any license violation or virus detections
See the active users of a program,
See the number of active users for a program,
See what the peak number of users was for a program,
See the number of times a user had to wait to run a program
See the number of times a user canceled out of waiting for a program to be available.

2.0 What you need to remember after installing metering

2.1 Upgrading
You should remove metering from all programs you are currently metering. Then proceed with the normal install except you should copy the LOCKER
2.2 New Installation
This installation assumes some knowledge of DOS. If you have problems with the commands, please look them up in your DOS manual.
First copy the LOCKER disk to a drive\directory where only the SUPERVISOR or NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR has access. For example:

Now startup windows
Open up the group you wish to add the LOCKER management console to (LOCKCON) and then select File/New the Program Manager window. Then press OK

CHAPTER 3. USING LOCKER
3.1 Screen Layout and commands
To run LOCKCON double click on its icon. This will bring up Locker's console:
For each program being metered you will see the following information:
PROGRAM: Either the program executable file name or the description
TYPE: Whether a program is a DOS or WINDOWS (DOS/WIN) based
LIMIT: How many users can use the program concurrently
CURRENT: How many users are currently using the program
OVER: How many times the license was violated
PEAK USED: Peak number of concurrent users
WAITS: Number of users who had to wait to access the program
CANCELS: Number of users who canceled out of waiting for the program to be available
TOTAL ACCESS: Number of times the program has been run
From LOCKCON you can either install metering on software, change the metering limits or remove metering from software.
Actions you can do from this screen:
To install metering on a software product press Install Metering Button
To highlight a displayed software product use the arrow keys or single click on the item
To change the metering limit, first highlight the software name and then press the Edit Metering Button or double click on the item
To remove metering from a software product, first highlight the software name and then press the Remove Item Button
To add a Office Suite / Group push the Install Suite Button
To see the current users for a program, press the Users Button

To edit the metering limit of a suite or add/remove items in it, double click on the suite or highlight and press the Edit Metering Button
To clear the log information select Edit/Clear Log from the menu
To Clear all the logs select Edit/Clear all Logs from the menu
To print a report of the metered items select File/Print Log Info from the menu
To export the information in Locker to a comma delimited file select File/Export Log Info from the menu
To print the audit log for a program, first highlight the program and then select File/Print Usage Report
To display the audit log for a program, first highlight the program and then select File/Display Usage Report
To print a statistical/graphical report for a program, first highlight the program and then select File/Print License Report
To display a statistical/graphical report for a program, first highlight and then select File/Display License Report
To set the DOS environment variable from which the UserID is gotten select File/SetConfig
To force the screen to update the log information select Edit/Update (or F3)
To toggle whether the screen is updated, select Edit/Update Toggle (or F2)
To exit from LOCKCON select File/Exit from the menu
3.2 Install metering on software
After pressing the Install Metering Button an entry screen will be displayed:
Program : This is the software executable name (for example: TEST.EXE - do not include that program path).
Program Desc: This is a description of the item being metered
Program Path: Enter either the directory or the drive:\directory of where the software is located. Please note that you should have the same
Module name: Leave it blank unless the main program actually starts another module/program and then terminates. (Only used for windows progr
Type: What type of program you are metering. Normally either Windows or DOS program).
Limit: The maximum number of concurrent users allowed.
Scan Time: Enter how often you want the program to check to see if a license is available.
Timeout: How long can a user wait for a program to be available. 0 = No waiting allowed, Blank = Unlimited waiting.
Log: This field controls whether the extended log information is kept.
Virus Detection: This field controls whether Locker will check to see if a virus has infected the exe (only will find viruses after which in

After you are finished entering the information, you can either escape from adding metering by press CANCEL or install metering by press SAVE.
3.3 Changing metering limits on software
After highlighting the software you wish to change the metering on and pressing Edit Metering Button the same screen as when you installed the

3.6 Metering applications on Local hard drives
There are two way of metering applications residing on local hard drives
